Aged seventeen she co-founded The Vavengers, an arts collective turned leading Uk charity supporting survivors of Gender based violence in the asylum seeker and refugee community in London. The Vavengers was one of thirteen charities selected and funded by the Home Office in the Covid-19 pandemic to address the rise in Gender based Violence in the UK. Mabel is now Chair of the Board at The Vavengers and looks to focus her attention on Film as means for social change through her work within Deadbeat. Mabel's interest in the 'Impact for Film' space has centred around getting underrepresented stories on screen, addressing the lack of accessibility and Inclusion in the Industry and looking at grassroots campaigning beyond film to mobilise audiences. Mabel's recent short film 5 STARS premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and toured as part of TAPE Collectives 'But where are you really from?' series. Tarquin's directorial feature doc, Free Speech Fear Free, was nominated for 'Best Positive First Film' at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival's Cinema Positif and subsequently acquired in over 20 countries and distributed on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Rakuten, and Vimeo. He won American Insight's Free Speech Award and was nominated for an Amnesty International Film Award. Tarquin has spent the last two years commissioning short documentaries on Climate Change in collaboration with the United Nations and has attended COP26, COP27, and GP2022 in Bali. In 2019, Tarquin was the impact producer for the feature doc Under The Knife directed by Emmy-winning Susan Steinberg. He created a 5-day ‘festival of screenings’ alongside several trade unions, media partners and issue ambassadors such as Ken Loach. In 2022, Tarquin was an impact coordinator on Dogwoof’s Dalton’s Dream by documentary legend Kim Longinotto and Franky Murray Brown.
